Owning a property with a Flat roof.

You might feel a little bit concerned when you hear the words “flat roof” only because there are quite a few scares that are supposed to be attached to them.  Most of this is not true; first of all there are no “flat” roofs. All roofs that are built have a certain incline as a true flat roof would indeed collect water. We should always spare some attention to our home roofs regardless of their shape but if you want Flat roofing in Evesham there are some great companies that can ensure these are installed properly. What do you need to do to look after the roof and make sure that it lasts for a good length of time, or at least for as long as you are living in the property?

Flat roofs are usually associated with single storey properties as part of an extension or a garage. The great news about this is that you can take a look yourself at its condition and give it a good clean should it be needed. It’s a good idea to have a look up on the roof every six months to make sure that nothing untoward has managed to make its way up there. You do find that the football and the Frisbee seem to find the flat roof as their natural habitat and whilst they might not cause any damage their removal will probably make you children happier. It is more likely that you will find the usual mess of twigs and leaves up there plus the dreaded algae and moss, it doesn’t take much for that stuff to get a hold on to any surface and start growing, moss is quite amazing if annoying stuff. The growth of moss and algae, coupled with the rubbish from the leaves can start to cause a blockage and this can cause issues with water backing up on the roof or overflowing the gutters.

If you have any trees growing around or near the roof then you’ll need to keep a close eye on them as well as they can add to the trouble. You should make sure that there are no overhanging branches and when the autumn comes make sure that you get those leaves up good a quick. The same is true of evergreens, in fact if anything the tight leaves of a fern can cause even more issues.
