Grab yourself some winter sunshine

Love summer and fear the arrival of autumn and winter? Then you need to get away for some winter sun. Tenerife is beautiful and is the best place for a winter sun holiday. Is there a better place for an affordable family vacation with warmth and sunshine almost guaranteed in winter?

During our winter months, we have fewer choices for warm holiday destinations. You can fly to Asia or the Caribbean but that will mean long and expensive flights and there is something very accessible about Tenerife.

All year-round sunshine

The coolest month in Tenerife is January but even then it only really drops to an average of 17 ° C and very rarely falls below 14 ° C. Rainfall is also low with an average of 6 rainy days in December – this is the wettest month of the year and even when it rains, it doesn’t last for long.

Short flights

Tenerife is a very popular destination so there are many flights throughout the winter. Flights only take around 4.5 hours while many other winter sun destinations will be 8 hours or more. For flights from Irish Airports, visit https://irelandwestairport.com/

The beach is beautiful

Tenerife beaches are beautiful and yes, some of them are really busy but for every beach full of umbrellas and buckets and shovels there are other quiet beaches without souls in sight.

This is an island that is easily explored

It is highly recommended to rent a car and go exploring. It’s a simple island to drive and, because it’s small, you can see and do many things in a short time. Renting a car is really cheap and the roads are easy to navigate.

Siam Park is the best water park in the world

According to TripAdvisor, Siam Park is the best water park in the world. The rides are amazing and there are so many to choose from. The large lagoon is also beautiful and you can pretend to be in a far more exotic place like the Maldives!

Teide National Park is amazing

Many visitors fail to include Teide National Park on their itinerary, but if you have free time in Tenerife then it’s well worth visiting. This is in stark contrast to the colorful coastline and like driving to a different planet. This is where you see the arid desert landscape consisting of volcanoes, craters and petrified lava rivers. Drive through Teide National Park and then take a cable car that will take you to the top of Mount Teide, the highest mountain in Spain.

Masca Village will take your breath

The Masca mountain village has boldly been called the most beautiful village in the Canary Islands. It wasn’t a village for me, but a nail-biting drive that fell through tortuous mountain roads made it extraordinary. The drive is beautiful and I highly recommend stopping by the famous coffee shop for ice cream with the most incredible views.
